SWIMMING WITH THE DOLPHINS
All year round in Mauritius, nature lovers can experience the most exciting encounter in Black River or Tamarin Bay: Meeting and swimming with the dolphins!
Both Spinners and Bottlenose dolphins are seen playing in the bay in the early morning before going back to the open sea.
From May to October, wintertime in Mauritius, the dolphin swimming is operated from 7:00a.m to 8:30a.m but in summertime, an earlier departure, as from 6:00a.m can be requested from us as, from our experience, we know that the earlier you go, the greater time you will spend.
All around the year, in Black River or Tamarin Bay, Dolphin Watching can be done in early morning, between 7:00 and 10:30.
Join us in the morning for an exciting tour on our explorer speedboat from 7:00 to 8:00 and enhance the experience by spending the day for a cruise on board our catamaran, the “Madiana”, from 9:00 to 15:30.
The day cruise on board the “Madiana” starts with the magical meeting with the dolphins, followed by snorkelling outside the beautiful reef of “La Preneuse”. From there, we will sail towards “Le Morne”’s mind-blowing turquoise lagoon where we will stop for a fabulous, mouth watering, seafood BBQ lunch.
Being one of the most common species, the Bottlenose dolphin is known all over the world. It is also the biggest amongst the different species of dolphins with a weight of up to 650kg and a length of up to 12 feet! Very gentle and quiet, they are the easiest to swim with and are famous for their intelligence and willingness to approach humans.
The most playful of the dolphins, the Spinners, live in large groups of up to 100 members. Much smaller than their fellow peers, the Bottlenose, they grow up to 80 kg and 8 feet. Famous for being very active, you will enjoy seeing them play together as the morning is their time of celebration and training for the calves who are generally about 1 feet long and weigh not more than 3kg.
Your Safety, Our Priority
For safety reasons we will not operate any dolphin swimming after 8:30 a.m. as there is a large number of boats coming at this time for the dolphin watching. This crowded movement in the water enhances the risk for accidents and chase the dolphins away as the other boats will come closer each time we will drop you in the water. Customers have to use the safety rescue tube provided and are accompanied in the water by a guide with a rescue can.
We guarantee the dolphins! If, for any reasons, there are no dolphins, we will postpone or refund 100% of the trip!
